Dr. Zahir Shah serves as the Member (Implementation & Monitoring) at the Planning Commission, overseeing the evaluation of major development programs/projects. With over 35 years of diverse experience in planning, development, and academia, his career includes notable roles in the Pakistan Army's Corps of Engineers. Dr. Shah has contributed to significant national projects like Chakdara-Chitral Road, Makran Coastal Highway, and the UAE Pakistan Assistance Program (UPAP). He played a pivotal role in post-flood rehabilitation in Swat and merged districts from 2010-2013.

His journey includes positions such as Dean at the College of Civil Engineering, Pro Rector at NUST, and Surveyor General of Pakistan. Dr. Shah joined the Planning Commission in the CPEC Secretariat, later serving in Lahore as Advisor (Infrastructure) to the P&D Board Punjab and DG M&E, P&D Board Punjab. Rejoining the Planning Commission in 2019 as Member I&M, Dr. Shah holds degrees from MCE, Risalpur, Stanford University, MSU, USA, and NDU Islamabad.
